How is Vera Salt different from regular sea salt?

Vera Salt stands apart in purity and transparency. While many sea salts are contaminated with microplastics, heavy metals, additives, and other contaminants, Vera Salt is third party tested to ensure its purity and quality. We proudly share these results on our website as part of our commitment to transparency.

Where is Vera Salt sourced from?

Our one of a kind salt is sourced from the foothills of Spain at over 2000 feet above sea level. This pristine location, far from human activity and pollution, hosts an underground aquifer that feeds a brine spring, rich in natural minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium. We chose to source from this pristine saline spring due to its location, away from human pollution and contamination.

How is Vera Salt microplastic free?

Vera Salt is microplastic free because of our meticulous sourcing process. We source our salt from pristine springs in Spain, far away from sources of industrial pollution where microplastics can be a problem. Unlike sea salts that may come into contact with microplastics present in the oceans, our spring-sourced salt is inherently free from these contaminants. Furthermore, to confirm our claims, we regularly conduct third-party lab tests to ensure our salt is 100% microplastic-free.

How is Vera Salt's fine salt packaging plastic-free?

We are proud to offer packaging that is 100% plastic-free. The inner bag, which might resemble plastic, is crafted from potato starch, as indicated on the side of the box. It's biodegradable, compostable, and a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics. We think the inner bag is a nice compromise, as it's an innovative material which functions similarly to plastic yet isn't made from industrial oil byproducts.

Why does Vera Salt sometimes clump?

Vera Salt is committed to uncompromising purity, which means we do not add any additives, preservatives, or anti-clumping agents that are commonly found in conventional salts. Due to this commitment, our salt retains the natural minerals and magnesium that can lead to clumping, especially when exposed to moisture. This is actually a sign of high quality, minimally processed salt that hasn’t been stripped of its beneficial properties. If you find the salt clumping in a shaker, we recommend storing it in a cool, dry environment and possibly using a salt cellar or dish for easier access.
